Maternity Massage and maternity aromatherapy

Massage

Knowledge of a variety of massage techniques (Swedish, Indian, Acupressure, Neuromuscular, Lymphatic Drainage) as well as an understanding of pregnancy and birth enables me to provide a truly holistic massage which meets your individual needs and the demands of your stage of pregnancy. The focus is always on encouraging your connection to your baby and may address some common discomforts of pregnancy such as swelling, indigestion, muscle fatigue, aches and pains and poor posture. Discussion on birth positions and massage techniques and essential oils for labour can be explored if you so wish.

The cost of massage is £22 per treatment or £27 if it takes place in your home.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile plant oils to assist physical and psychological well-being. Essential oils are considered to be the pure essence of the plant, containing both the medicinal properties and "life force" found within it. Used correctly, many benefits can be obtained from their use. The essential oils are usually applied to the skin via massage or some other means (though this is not the only method) and are thought to enter the bloodstream via absorption through the skin. Benefits are also obtained from the inhalation of the aroma which creates subtle effects upon the emotional and psychological state.

In this treatment essential oils are blended with your individual needs and your pregnancy in mind and applied via massage with particular consideration to your stage of pregnancy. The session can include discussion on the use of essential oils and massage tehniques for labour if desired. If carried out around or just after your due date oils can be selected to gently encourage the onset of labour, reducing the likelyhood of artificial means of labour induction.

The cost of this treatment is £25 or £30 if carried out at your home.

Reflexology

Reflexology treats the whole person and is a gentle and relaxing way of helping to balance the body and mind during pregnancy. This treatment can help alleviate common pregnancy discomforts such as nausea and indigestion and provide relief from stress and muscular fatigue. In the last few weeks of your pregnancy a knowledgeable practitioner can help strengthen the uterus and prepare the body for a normal birth. Reflexology carried out after your due date can help gently encourage the onset of labour, reducing the need for intervention.

The cost of a treatment is £20 or £25 if carried out at your home
